書院：修書著述、講學授課之用，清咸豐(1857年)由地方仕紳募款獻地
，翌年落成「道東書院」，意指「王道東來」，俗稱文祠或文廟，是目前清代書院中較具原貌，名列為二級古蹟者。
本書院占地2000多坪，寬廣院庭、綠林蔭密，晨昏時段散步休憩相當怡人，正殿祀奉朱熹夫子，為二進之四合院，前埕有泮池、照牆，面寬三開間，硬山燕尾翹脊屋頂，殿旁設「惜字亭」彰顯古人惜紙敬字的態度，左右有日月圓門，別有雅趣，雖不見當年講學盛況，仍能來此享受這一份在時光洪流中停滯的寧靜。

Tutorial Academy: it is used as a place for book writing and teaching. The Daodong Tutorial Academy completed after a year since the donation of land from the local people in Xianfeng Emperor of Qing Dynasty (1857 year). It is also known as Confucius Temple. Furthermore, it is listed as a Grade II historical building which well reserved the most part of its original look from Qing Dynasty.
Daodong Tutorial Academy is as big as 6,612 square meters with wide courtyard and green scenery. The main hall enshrines Zhu-Xi. The courtyard house has a pond at the front, wall to separate the house with street and Swallowtail Roof at the two sides. The Respect Words Pavilions (Jing-Zi Ting) were built at the side of the hall shows how ancient people treasure the papers and respect the words. Everything looks so elegant in its own way. You can enjoy the silent of the stopped time here although there are no more lecturer going on like the past.
