尋訪手作職人 Meet the Handcraft Masters

一座老城鎮裡，總有一些人，如同老建築一樣的堅持，堅持著用自己的方式，一點點的製作出精細的作品，
這些作品，透過了日常生活的使用，產生了工藝的美感，而這樣的工藝美，也僅有在這些堅持手作的職人作品中得以展現。

讓我們循著那堅持手作的精神，探訪這些職人，親眼見證，老城鎮裡的工藝之美。

There are always some people as persistence as the old building, insist on making some meticulous craft work by using their own way. It produces the beauty of art through the uses in daily life which only shows in the product from these handcraft masters.

1.家中聖品雞毛撢子-陳忠露
   Artistic Handmade Feather Duster– Chen, Zhong Lu

從小記憶中家裡最威嚴的家法工具就是一支雞毛筅，也幾乎是大家共同的童年回憶。
這樣雞毛撢子從早期的手工製作一直到現在幾乎都是塑膠製品或機器加工居多，陳忠露先生已經是在台灣僅有的手工雞毛撢製作者。
老房子內滿是雞毛，手腳並用的功夫也僅剩唯一傳人，由於手工製作數量有限，現在大多也僅接受少量訂單，陳忠露先生早已把工作當作健身，這裡除了販售外，也示範教學以及傳承手藝，讓這項工藝一直持續下去。

Mr Chen is the only person left in making the handcraft feather duster at Taiwan while most of the feather dusters nowadays are plastic product or produced by machine.

The old house is full of the chicken feathers. No one master has the proficiency in making handmade feather duster just like Mr. Chen. Now, he only accepts order in small quantity because the limited amount he could produce in manual. He also already takes his work as body fitness training since long time ago. There are making procedure tutorial and handmade skills teaching other than selling the feather duster to continue inherit this handcraft skill.

2.一聲好鼓氣-黃呈豐
   A Nice Drumbeat – Huang, Cheng Feng

台灣民間信仰裡所有的表演藝術都脫離不了鼓，製鼓技術也幾乎傳承百年以上，只是近年傳統藝術地位式微，加上手工製作價格高，製作的產量也越來越少。
黃呈豐已經是國內極少手工製鼓的三代傳人，一年產量最多也只有兩百，但訂單卻已經接到明年，由於手工的堅持，光是鼓皮調音就得花上好幾天，也因為這樣各大廟與樂團仍指定要黃呈豐的鼓。
一聲好鼓，是這樣堅持而來的。

Drum is related to all the performance art of folk beliefs in Taiwan. The skill in making drum is here for more than hundred years. However, the number in production of handmade drum becomes fewer, due to the declination of traditional art and the high price of handmade drum.

Mr. Huang is one of the few handmade drum makers in Taiwan which is third generation in keeping the skill. He only able to produce around 200 units per year, many orders have to wait until the next year. Its tuning spends few days and it is the reason why lots groups want the drum from Mr. Huang.

This is the persistence in produce a good drumbeat.

3.扇中有天地-陳朝宗
   World in Fan – Chen, Chao Zhong

原本彰化地區在日本時代有許多的扇廠，後來由於電風扇的普及之後，扇子的需求大量減少，許多原本有製扇技術的師傅也紛紛改行，至今幾乎失傳。
陳朝宗十多歲開始進扇廠學習，後來扇廠關閉後只好改行，一直到47歲才有重新投入製扇的工藝，開設了一家小小的工作室，除了製扇之外，也積極的學習畫作，將製扇與畫扇變成一氣合成的工藝。
近年由於年事漸長，耳朵稍有重聽，使得較少與遊客談話，建議拜訪者需要多點耐心，才是一種尊重的態度。

In olden time, there were lots factories in making fan at Changhua region, but now the skill of making fan was almost lost completely after the electrical fan had popularize.

Mr. Chen learns fan-making in the manufacture factory since 10 years old, but diverted after the factory closing. Then, returns to this industry at 47 years old and set up a workshop. He learns drawing seriously and merges his painting with fan together as a new craft art.

For recent years, Mr. Chen’s hearing become weaker due to aged. Therefore, he seldom talks to tourist. Please be patient as a respect for him.

4.檜木蒸籠萬千滋味-陳錦煌
Fantastic Steamer in Taiwan Cypress – Chen, Jin Huang

蒸籠是一個飲食的印象，圓型的蒸籠像是魔術盒一樣能夠做出各項的美味食物，不管是逢年過節或是娶妻生子，這蒸籠就是廚房裡的神兵利器，伴著阿媽大廚做出萬千料理。
陳錦煌先生從父親即開始製作蒸籠，他也就成為蒸籠製作的傳承者，製作遵循古法，大小可依照客戶需求定做，主要的材料檜木，籠蓋則以編竹製成。
好的蒸籠既耐用，蒸出來的食物也特別好吃，但由於飲食烹調的改變，蒸籠的使用越來越少，這樣的技藝也難再傳承。

並無現場購買只能預定，來看製作的朋友都可以跟老師傅聊聊天，但不要打擾師傅的製作喔

Steamer is an impression of Chinese food. The round steamer is like a magic box which can make all kinds of delicious food. It is a magic weapon in kitchen to help the mother chef in cooking during celebrations.

Mr. Chen inherits the ancient skill of making steamer from his father who started the business. The size of the steamer can be customized according to the request from customer. The main material of the steamer is Taiwan Cypress, and its lid made by weaving bamboo. A good steamer cooks delicious food and durable. However, the changes in ways of cooking reduce the uses in steamer and this make it harder to keep the skill.

There is no steamer sells without order in advance. You may have a good chit chat with the master while your visitation without disturbing his making process.

5.用陶藝說在地故事-施性輝 
   Local Story with Pottery – Shi, Xing Hui

一個陶杯的製作，運用了龍山寺的香灰、王功的蚵灰以及八卦山泥土，結合了土地、信仰與飲食，也就是在地的生活，在地的人生，這也是鹿港燒的開始。

施性輝老師求學主修陶藝，並獲獎無數，後來選擇回到家鄉在龍山寺旁開設陶藝館與教室，一邊教學與販售，並嘗試用各種不同的素材去燒陶，讓自己的創作具有在地風味與獨一無二的特性，近年將自己經營種植十年的私人園區開放出來，讓更多人可以在稻田林蔭間做陶，將藝術更與生活融合。

The ash of joss sticks from Longshan Temple, the ash of oyster shell from Wanggong and the clay from Baguashan used in produce a pottery cup. This is the starting point of Lugang-Shao that mixed the ground, religion and diet which is the local life at the same time.

Master Shi was major in pottery during his study and won a lot of awards. Then, he chose to come back to his hometown and started a pottery workshop and pottery art house beside Longshan Temple. He teaches and sells while try to produce localized pottery with different materials. He also opens his personal garden which he had took care of it for more than ten years to public and allow more people to do their creation under the natural environment in the hope of merge the art with life.

6.穿針引線巷弄手工香包-周月容
   Sachet In The Lane – Zhou, Yue Rong

剛進杉行街裡，一定會被掛滿了各式各樣的香包的小店給吸引，而這些五顏六色以及淡淡的中藥與檀香味，就成了杉行街裡獨特的存在。

小點主人周月容女士在民國65年嫁來鹿港並學習了鹿港的刺繡香包，便開始了鑽研手工香包之路，剛開始由於布料取得不易，多半使用的是衣服所剩下的邊角料，但由於做工精細，推出之後大受歡迎，後來開始研發各種緞布的的縫製，各樣扁平與立體的縫製技術，目前最多人訂購的則是能夠站立的小老虎香包，除了縫製精細之外，還有手工圖樣畫畫，讓每一個老虎都有不同的神韻。

The eye-catching small shops with all kinds of colourful sachets which smell in traditional Chinese medicine and sandalwood hanging around the shops are the unique scenery for Shanxing street.

This shop owner Madam Zhou was married to Lukang and learns to make the embroidery sachet of Lukang before starts her journey working on handmade sachet. It is hard to get the fabric for sachet at the beginning and most of the fabrics used are the one left behind after sewing a cloth. However, it gets popular because of the good skill. She starts to invent different ways of sewing such as two-dimensional and three-dimensional sewing technique with different kind of fabric. Now, the small standing tiger sachet is the customer favourite and has the most orders from customers. Other than the fine sewing skill, there is drawing in manual to give the different verve to every tiger too.
